Winter can be the best time of year for walking.
This is the first walk in our series and is a short walk suitable for any ability.
Not too challenging, perfect stroll before dinner or as a morning pick-me-up before breakfast.
As you follow the road up the hill from the Black Swan you pass Fearby Village Hall on the right.
A beautiful 1920’s built hall that is supported by local fundraising efforts and some of the great events they put on. (Look out for the annual Panto in late January. Not to be missed!)
At the next turning left stands Kell Bank school. Only 25 pupils from age 4-11, this school has a rich history in the village.
Once you are low moor track you have Fearby to your left and Ilton to your right. It is a lovely peaceful walk with no traffic down on low moor, unless you count pheasants getting in your way!
As you walk back up the village of Fearby notice the well manicured village green which is maintained and paid for by community fundraising since Harrogate withdrew funding and services.
The houses in the village have been well preserved and sympathetically modernised.
